A rural school in Tafí del Valle, which was abandoned, became a refuge. It will be used by tourists who practice trekking between the town and Yerba Buena. It is a route of about 80 kilometers through Tucuman hills and valleys, reported Ente Tucumán Turismo (ETT).
The La Ciénaga educational establishment is equipped with 32 places for adventure tourism lovers. In particular, hikers who also pass through San Javier, La Sala, El Siambón and Anfama on their journey through hills and the valleys Calchaquíes.

The two bedrooms and the kitchen dining room of the La Ciénaga school have been refurbished. They are equipped with bunk beds, mattresses, bedding, electricity, solar energy and LED lighting, among other components.
ETT President Sebastián Giobellina said that this new attraction “responds to the need to generate infrastructure that enhances, through a high mountain shelter, the development of Active Tourism”.
Giobellina stressed that this shelter “will attract more tourists to the area”. He said that this circumstance “will allow local residents to obtain economic benefits, providing services to those who make these tours, which can last two and three days.”
Finally, he stressed that “the providers of Active Tourism in the area already benefit from this new shelter. It facilitates the arrival of visitors and contact with the different options of tourist services they have.”
