Jardín-botánico-de-la-Municipalidad-de-Santa-Fe

The  Botanical Garden of the Municipality of Santa Fe  is  the second of its kind in our country . There are 14 hectares full of trees,  plants and flowers that make up a serene landscape  ideal to find the peace of a pleasant day.

This beautiful plot is located in the northern heart of the capital city, Avenida Gorriti al 3902. It began to operate, on the current premises, as a municipal nursery in 1968. According to the  chronicles , at the time, the owners of the land sold it to the Municipality and only in 1971 he adopted the name engineer Lorenzo Parodi. He was an outstanding  Argentine scientist  who discovered many species at the beginning of the last century, died in 1966. The park has more than  660 species  of native and exotic flora, which have been grouped according to their characteristics: Coniferous Park, Palm Tree Garden or Palmatum, Ornamental Shrub Garden,  Forest   Oaks, Banana Forest, Lap Forest, Forest Garden, Arboretum.

This walk among the trees can be  an apprenticeship  for young and old. It is that each species has a brief description of its name and origin.

 Tree infrastructure and production

In 1995, the Botanical was remodeled by the construction of a perimeter fencing, public bathrooms, entrance, lighting and a multipurpose hall.

On the premises, there are  several paths to go . They're all perfectly identified. The Municipal Nursery also operates there, designed with four breeding massifs for the  own production of tree specimens  destined for afforestation in various parts of the urban ejido. At present, the nursery has a production capacity of 12,000  trees . In addition, with the construction of a greenhouse, its productive capacity doubled.  In a year , it reached a production of 100,000 seedlings and 11,000  aromatic  plants and vegetables that constantly supply the plots.
