Seclantás is the birthplace of the Salteño poncho and one of the best preserved villages in the province of Jump. With only one main street on which there are built mansions of adobe brick with galleries and spacious patios. They are all architectural details that give the place a past tense air. A magical place if there is. Seclantás is 2200 meters above the banks of the Calchaquí river, 154 km from Salta airport and a few meters from the RN 40. We tell you what you can do there.
Brealito is a place located 15 kilometers from Seclantás, is close to a river and surrounded by cordons and by the hills Luracatao and Del Refugio. A few houses and the chapel realize its existence. Its greatest attraction is a mysterious lagoon, full of strange stories and stories. The strangest of them assures that gigantic living being dwells in that eye of water. To reach it you must walk a cornice road with climbs and descents not recommended for an inexperienced on mountain trails. That's why we recommend doing it with a travel agency enabled to enjoy the incomparable beauty. There are those who choose to camp there, at 2700 masl, to try to witness the inexplicable lights that are seen in the sky of which no one has been able to explain its origin.
These amazing rock formations give the feeling of being on another planet. The place welcomes the visitor with large stone walls turned into a kind of a natural labyrinth. To get to them, the only way is to walk between 4 and 5 hours. As you advance through the dry river canyon, it narrows and narrow tunnels form that end in these truly wonderful reddish caves.
At 4 km from the village is the Finca La Montevideana, a rural establishment with all the surrounding landscape. Painted hills of ochres and reds with cardons that protrude as hand placed. This hotel in the Calchaquíes Valles is ideal for overnight on a trip to Seclantás. An ideal way to live a different experience in contact with nature.
