Like a postcard

A magical village

Sometimes we look at a picture and we can't believe that such a place exists. Other times, we take a picture in that place and we can't believe we're there. Being immersed in a postcard: that is the sensation we have when we visit the beautiful town of Iruya, in the province of Salta. Located more than 2700 meters above sea level, and about 300 km from the provincial capital, Iruya seems to be hanging from the mountain. Its cobblestone streets are as if stopped in time, inviting the visitor to rest and meditation. But it also pushes the visitor to go for a walk, a walk, to get lost in that postcard made of history and made of life. Imposing landscapes and an inabarcable cultural wealth merge in this town, where the original culture intertwines with the Hispanic culture, and both survive achieving a unique symbiosis. Customs and traditions remain intact, surrounded by rivers, mountains and fairytale streets. Iruya makes us stop, breathe, admire and follow. It makes us stop and walk; sit and walk. Its charm is within everyone's reach, and it is worth taking a walk around this corner of Salta that has so many surprises in store for us.
