The Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Nation launched the “Previaje” program, which will provide a credit for 50 per cent of the total expenses incurred to those who purchase their holidays by 2021 before the end of 2020, which can be used both on that trip and on other purchases within the tourism industry in Argentina throughout 2021.
The promotion covers accommodation, travel agencies, transportation, excursions, tourist centers, car rental and equipment, tourist attractions, gastronomy, entertainment and leisure, regional products, fairs and conventions and other tourist services purchased until December 31 of 2020 inclusive.
“After an unprecedented global crisis, we are making the biggest investment in the history of Argentine tourism to launch the sector and revive regional economies. With this plan, tourism will be one of the first sectors to implement the economic reconstruction of the country for the post-pandemic”, stressed the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Nation, Matías Lammens during the presentation.
“President Alberto Fernández asked us to be more ingenious than ever to begin the reconstruction of a sector that was at zero turnover. That is why we are moving forward with this initiative, which aroused international praise and is generating many expectations in Argentine localities where tourism is the main activity. We needed the sector to stand up for the day after. I am very proud of what we have done and that we crowned with this plan, the biggest stimulus the sector has had,” said Lammens.
The Secretary of National Tourism Promotion, Yanina Martinez, said that “where there is tourism there is well-being, there is local development, there is a better quality of life. Pretravel is helping us, solidarity, reconstruction of the social fabric, from the economic, the cultural, and certainly from the environmental”.
Aldo Elias, president of the Argentine Chamber of Tourism, stressed that “this is the biggest endorsement that a National Government has given to tourism in all history. We should highlight this point because at the worst moment of the activity, a tool is developed that can enhance and reposition tourism activity after this pause forced by the pandemic”
Representing the Federal Tourism Council, its president Claudia Grynszpan, said that “Previaje is the great innovative tool promoted by the National Government with a federal imprint, it is a huge responsibility to the private sector that is responsible for the labor source of thousands of families.”
For his part, the president of the Argentine Federation of Travel and Tourism Companies Associations, Gustavo Hani, stressed: “We are eager and very happy with the Previaje program, because the entire agency sector has participated and a real revolution has been generated. These are the first steps that make us see the light we have hoped for so many months ago.”
Once the trip is pre-purchased, each tourist will have to register at www.previaje.gob.ar with username and password, complete a form and upload the corresponding vouchers. The credit granted will be available for use from the start date of the trip by any provider of tourist services and/or goods within the country until December 31 of next year.
The approved benefit will be credited to the BNA+ Electronic Wallet and you can opt for a Pre-filled Card issued by the Banco de la Nación Argentina. To use the benefit during January and February 2021, invoices must be charged by October 31, 2020. And from November 1, 2020, all loaded trips will work for the rest of 2021.
The possibility of redeeming the benefit will be enabled once the accumulated minimum amount of $10,000among one or more vouchers has been reached. The minimum amount per voucher is $1,000. The benefits generated under the Previaje program have a minimum of $5,000 and a maximum refund by State credit of $100,000 per person over 18 years of age.
With the implementation of Previaje, the National State will invest more than $53 billion in tourism during the year, considering both the $15 billion investment for the pre-sale program and the implementation of the Emergency Work and Production Assistance Program of the National State (ATP) for workers in the sector and the implementation of the Plan for Aid, Training and Infrastructure for Tourism (PACIT).
