Chacras de Coria: the Mendoza microclimate

A humid and green town in the middle of the desert that is Mendoza. With a lot to do and enjoy. Of the chakras, nothing remains.

Due to its dry climate, the lack of vegetation of natural origin and the scarcity of water, the district of Chacras de Coria is revered and admired by the vast majority of Mendoza society. It is presented as an option for the enjoyment of the Mendoza, but also of the tourists. Restaurants, cabins, inns, shelters, mountains and streams make up the offer of a truly spectacular site.

But one of its main aspects is the microclimate that this place constitutes, 20 kilometers from the city. It is that, in summer, it is known that , if in the city it is 35 degrees, in Chacras de Coria the thermometer does not exceed 25. However, in winter, the cold is not maximized . A true climate of its own. And this is reflected in a very clear example. The houses do not have air conditioning. They just don't need it. Its inhabitants say that opening windows and feeling the air stream is one of the greatest pleasures this place offers.

The origins of the name must be traced back to the exploration and colonization work carried out by Captain Juan Hilario de Coria. In the place known by the indigenous people by the name of Lamyení, that neighbor founded one of his chakras, which were called Chacras of Coria.

From that moment on, the place has always been a residential space. The shops in the area are typical supplies, bars and restaurants, as in all tourist sites. But there is almost no banks, public offices or anything that would cause people to be congested.

Tourist offer

Chacras de Coria is a perfect place for a bike tour through the tree-lined streets, costing green canals and old rooms. It also offers restaurants of all kinds: classics, Peruvian food, Cuban food and beer courtyards. Finally, spa hotels, inns, or old houses are part of the accommodation of the area . In addition, public transport is perfectly connected to the urban area of Mendoza.
