An excellent opportunity to get to know an amazing landscape and enjoy delicious dishes.
The natural scenery Laguna de los Pozuelos, located at about 4000 meters above sea level, joins one of the most visited circuits of the Puna due to its ecotourism attraction of bird watching, will be the place where communities from the area will celebrate, on Saturday 23 February, the XXV edition of the Provincial Festival of the Lamb.
This was announced by its organizers at a press conference held in the provincial capital where they presented some of the different dishes based on lamb that can be tasted during the celebration, amid coplas, native dances and the exhibition and sale of various fabrics and products that are made in the region.
“ Again culture and tourism are hand in hand, offering experiences that are what the tourist comes to look for in the province,” said Secretary of Provincial Tourism, Diego Valdecantos, accompanying the presentation of the program of the event.
He stressed that the celebration “is framed in a wonderful place like Laguna de los Pozuelos, which receives thousands of visitors all year round for the beautiful landscape, but above all for the rich fauna of the place, such as pink flamingos”.
Finally, he emphasized that the Lamb Festival is one of the events that allow “to experience thoroughly the culture and way of life of the villages of Jujuy”.
On the other hand, the president of the organizing committee of the event, Armando Bautista, told Télam that for the Festival are joined the communities of Rinconada, Santa Catalina and Yavi.
He added that the ideal is “to rescue and revalue customs, but above all to motivate the incorporation of recipes based on lamb in the kitchen of visitors”, this as a way to publicize the products that characterize the area economically. The
planned activities will start from 8 am, with various exhibitions and competitions related to lamb breeding and the artisanal production of products.
Around noon there will be a lunch where you can taste the most varied dishes based on the meat of the animal, while starting an outdoor festival with the performance of folk ensembles, erkencheros, anateros, and the exhibition of native dances.
To get to the natural scenery, from San Salvador de Jujuy you can take National Route 9 to the city of Abra Pampa, and from there head west on Route 69 for about 45 kilometers.
