The Paseo del Buen Pastor, one of the most famous in Córdoba, was once a women's prison. We tell you the transformation of this amazing place.
In the middle of Nueva Córdoba, the neighborhood that never sleeps, was formerly the women's prison. Today there is a cultural and recreational promenade that is a great attraction of the city. On the Paseo del Buen Pastor there is a fountain of dancing waters and is the meeting point for many young people. In addition, many musical shows take place in this space.
It is a strategic point, because around it are buildings such as the Church of the Capuchin. It is located in the busiest area of the city, in the heart of Cordoba, and offers many activities. What is striking about this project that today is the masterpiece of Cordoba is that it retained many features of the original work. Therefore, the materials and some key points of operation were preserved in its beginnings. It is a building that breathes history and youth. The new generations, travelers, tourists and adults of the city choose it to spend their weekends. Also for sharing with your friends, family or walking with your pets.
What makes this place a special point is that, for 100 years, it functioned like a women's prison . In its columns, there are photos of some of the former prisoners, as well as tributes to the disappeared. It is a center of connection with the history of Cordoba and the dynamics of the city. This space has art galleries, photo galleries, a chapel, green spaces and bars. The dancing waters show is a unique delight. It offers its show every hour approximately, which makes you often meet a mass audience.
In 2004, work began to restore this former prison and women's asylum to reconvert the meaning of the place. It was inaugurated as a tour in 2007, and since then it has been adding visitors. It is a key meeting point because it combines incredible architectural works , combining green spaces and history. On this Paseo you can find renowned restaurants, with incredible panoramic views of the city . Also shops and art shops, which make this place a commercial attraction. In addition, museums and exhibitions are very particular, in the open air or in the internal divisions of the building.
The Good Shepherd is a Cordovan jewel. Let's go visit him.
