 Cerro Inti Huasi is one of the hills that goes back to our ancestral life.  It is located  17 km from the village of Achiras,   in the Sierras del Sur region .   Approximately 272 km from the capital city . It was declared a  cultural reserve and archaeological site, since within it are the marks of  pre-Columbian history . The vestiges of an ancient civilization that gave way to this  Western society  in South America, in this part of the continent.

It is located in the vicinity of the town of Achiras, inviting us to  take a journey through time,  and go back to the  era of hunting and gathering.  Since he reveals to us  some secrets about the way of life  of the first inhabitants of this region. The most important brands of the hill are the  cave paintings,  the most valuable legacy left us by the  Comechingona population.  Because they give us indications of the dynamics that this original group handled. In this hill,  you can also find other comechingon traces  , which continue to remind us  of the presence of these original civilizations in the region. 


 The comechingones lived in much of Cordoba, they are our ancestors par excellence.  Among their customs, according to scholars, they stood out for making huts tucked into the ground.As if they were caves, of which to this day some are preserved. From this custom,  his name arises in Quechua , as it represents part of its identity and means  “Eat Earth”.  Some specialists assume that this culture used Cerro Inti Huasi to carry out  ceremonies and rituals. 

The Ancestral Hill

Cerro Inti Huasi is a  granitic massif located in the estances of Estancia Los Cerros.  It has caves and eaves that have been in human occupations for at least 2,800 years.  Therefore, visiting it is to be part of a millennial history, going back to the  origins of the species  and life in community. He's so special, he's  the star of the region.  Since it resembles a trunca pyramid of trapezoidal base.

From a scenographic point of view, Intihuasi Hill is the most promontory in the region. But not only for its height, which is  800 meters above sea level , but also for  its shape and contrast with  the surrounding mountains . In addition, it is composed of large hollowed stones, which provide a unique spectacle as they make up different figures. In this hill there are  caves and eaves  that were inhabited by the aborigines of the region.

The protagonists

 The protagonists of Cerro Inti Huasi are the cave paintings.  It is the illustration of countless geometric figures,  representations of llamas, of man and the sun.  These are pictographs that currently continue to be studied by specialists, providing key historical data. “ The general theme of the paintings denotes a common syntax:  animals and humans  in hunting, animals classified graphically according to their “genus”, animals or their footprints and, finally, polygonal, all very different from each other.  The whole group suggests the genitive in the being of the living: they are born and die devoured, proliferate delusional and lose themselves in the plot of the rock with dramatic grace . ”

 A visit to Cerro Inti Huasi can be healing and enriching.  This kind of expeditions remind us how small we are, in the face of  unknown phenomena dating back thousands of years.  They  give us back a little bit  of the finitude of the human being and connect us with existence. It is a point where  tranquility, nature and mountain air proliferate.  They also have the presence of  rivers and streams  that embellish it  . Inti Huasi is not alone, it is accompanied by its ancestral energy, native forest, native species and time marks.
