Villa Angela, between tranquility and Carnival

The city of Villa Ángela, in the province of Chaco, shows its two faces to tourism: the peace of nature and the brightness of Carnival.

Villa Ángela

Villa Ángela is a city southwest of Chaco, a place with a great cross of cultures. It was founded by Swiss citizens and has the Aboriginal influence of the Mocoví race. Its main attractions are the Carnival and museums. It is located about 25 kilometers from Resistencia, on RN 89, and is a place that alternates peace and tranquility with the festive energy of carnivals.

Its founders were Carlos Grüneisen and Julio Ulises Martin, the latter founder of Yerbatera Martin. These men bought an immense stay, which they would then move along with the whole community due to droughtproblems. This movement gave rise to the first population focus of Villa Ángela, a name that emerged in homage to Martin's wife.

Villa Angela Nature Reserve

It is one of the most outstanding aboriginal reserves in northern Argentina, which also surprises with its native flora and fauna. This place belongs to the people of the Mocoví race, who still maintain their culture intact. With pottery and artisanal products they produce and market, they manage to survive. The reserve is about 12 kilometres from the centre of Villa Angela.

The place indicated is the municipal campsite of Villa Ángela. There are 10 hectares where nature has built a paradisiacal natural landscape. For lovers of life next to nature, this is the ideal option. The place offers two own lagoons and a wooded space. It is an ideal place for family trips and a disconnect from everyday energies. Children have spaces with children's games and different sports courts.

Nature dominates the place, giving a unique charm, but there are also other amenities. Tourists have access to electricity, spaces for stoves, picnic areas, toilets, parking lots and surveillance. Services that optimize the experience at Villa Ángela.

History and culture

To understand the development of Villa Angela in time, tourists can visit the former tannin factory “La Chaqueña”. The complex has about 80,000 square meters. It is part of the Cultural Heritage of the Province of Chaco. It is part of history because it has represented a factor of social and economic advancement for the region.

What is now the Villa Ángela Regional Historical Museum began as a building built by “La Chaqueña” for a branch of Banco Nación. It then became the first post office in the place until 1992. Today the museum consists of three parts: History, Natural Sciences and Plastic Arts.

The Carnival

This popular holiday in is one of the most important in the whole country, which makes Villa Angela a cultural tourist destination, for walks and fun.
