Catamarca has northern DNA in each of its corners, and the department of Ancasti is no exception. Today it is a catamarque jewel, however, at first it was called Sierra de Santiago and belonged to Santiago del Estero .
Ancasti combines beautiful landscapes, a country style with lots of archaeological history, as well as rivers that accompany its inhabitants and visitors. La Cueva de la Candelaria and Tunita are an interesting historical-archaeological proposal. They are natural rock art museums: the life and customs of ancient hunters and gatherers have been engraved there. Every meter of nature is a resource from which the water culture has been fed and equipped.
Villa Anquincilla is a welcoming community with dirt roads and a river. The place has sites enabled to carry out camps and a municipal inn. Believers and interested may visit the Chapel Our Lady of the Rosary .
Pizca Dike is an artificial lake that is located 1000 meters above sea level, above the river Las Beatas. If you visit Ancasti, you can not forget your fishing rod, since sport fishing is a very popular activity on site. Pejerreyes and perch are the most sought after fish.
Fishing for many represents an activity of peace and concentration, but Ancasti has more. The trekking has a spectacular atmosphere that mixes forests, rivers and hills. Locals argue that appreciating the sunrise from its high trails is unforgettable and unique.
The hospitality of the inhabitants of Ancasti is full; the mountain families waiting for a visit will always be prepared with homemade bread, mattes with native herbs and, of course, the grilled chivito. It is a place where the most intense connection is going to live with nature and with mountain ranos. I came to Catamarca , I came to Ancasti.
