When we talk about olive groves our mind travels to an area of Northern Argentina comprised by the provinces of Catamarca and La Rioja. However, a few kilometers from the City of Buenos Aires there is a tourist circuit to enjoy a family holiday.
The sun protects the embroidered farmland of olive groves. On these estates consecrated by their fruits and horizons, the walk is savored with each of our senses. Popularly known as the “Provincial Capital of Olivo”, Coronel Dorrego has the largest number of hectares planted with this fruit in the province of Buenos Aires. The destination has nothing less than the beauties of the mountains of Ventania and the sea, which, in the country area, offers the possibility of guided tours of its stays and olive farms, taste its typical gastronomy and also enjoy its beautiful lagoons.
In fact, olive trees in the province of Buenos Aires are not new because they have more than half a century of history. As early as 1950, Colonel Dorrego was part of the national olive development plan throughout the country.
The thermal amplitude and the accumulation of cold hours allows to obtain a high quality product with a high concentration of phenols.
The circuit amalgates a group of entrepreneurs and rural establishments that offer the possibility of getting close to the activities of olive production and the elaboration of regional products. They have accommodation services, guided tours, handicrafts and typical gastronomy. They are: Finca La Comarca, Establishment Don Gastón, Estancia La Alborada, Agrarian Secondary School No. 1, Chocolates de Dorrego, Station Faro and Olivo Handicrafts
The lake circuit offers very good options for wandering and also for fishing. You can enjoy days on the coast or on board and spend the day with family or friends. You can visit the lagoon la Carlota, which has a lush grove to spend the day. The coasts are of mild decline and low canyons of tosca. The bottom is entirely made of stone, so its waters are very clear.
Other recommended are Laguna Irene, Turca, Salada, Cajón and Lejana
Feel from the countryside, taste its flavors, see its rainbow of colors and recreate yourself from its natural beauty. In addition to providing accommodation from where you can travel the area, also offer habitats conducive to bird watching, hiking, horseback riding and rides in ancient carriages. We indicate our chosen ones
