The lagoons of the province of Buenos Aires promise magical sunsets, invite you to experience different recreational activities and also to contemplate the tranquility of the natural environment. They are ideal places for lovers of sport fishing, to take a break and give yourself to  relax . Here are three lagoons from Buenos Aires to add to your agenda of must-see destinations.


The  Natural Park Laguna de Gómez  in Junín has a mirror of water with an area of between 5 thousand and 7 thousand hectares. There you can go windsurfing, kitesurfing, kayaking and jet ski tours.

Catching pejerrey is one of the most attractive activities.  Fishermen  can get parts from the coast or on board. The catfish, tarariras and tents also take the attention of fans.

The park is divided into three circuits. On  Paseo de los Pescadores  there is a wall that surrounds the lagoon with stairs to immerse yourself in the water where the 180 meter spigon stands out with a sculpture of more than seven symbolizing a nautical sail. Within this sector there are gastronomic establishments with a wide variety of dishes.

On the other hand, the  Paseo de los Navegantes  is located most campsites and grills to enjoy  outdoor  roasts with family or friends.

The  Coastal Way  proposes a more rugged route, with dirt streets. On this site the most adventurous are encouraged to paragliding and the most curious bird watching with a specialized guide.

The Laguna de Gómez Natural Park has all the services for a few restful days.

 How to get there 

By car: from Buenos Aires it is 260 kilometers by Acceso Oeste /RN 7. By train. Ferrocarril San Martín: Departs from Retiro on Friday afternoon and returns on Mondays at dawn. The other option is the bus.


The  Laguna de Puan has an  area of 700 hectares and is located just ten blocks from the city center.

Visitors can walk the ecotourism interpreting trail along a 250-metre pedestrian path. In addition, from the main viewpoint you can contemplate the landscape, with the Millenium Temple behind, on Cerro de La Paz.

From the municipal spa you can see the geiser that is inside the lagoon. It is an artificial construction, which by means of a pump throws a strong stream of water upwards fulfilling two functions: oxygenate water and further embellish the landscape.

Pejerrey fishing is also one of the most important activities in this lake area, where kayaking and other water sports is also common.

In 1989, human remains of more than three thousand years old were found. A rhyolite reservoir was also found, a stone with which the native communities built tools to cut meat, leather and wood. In 2001 it was declared a  multi-purpose Natural and Cultural Reserve  for the value of this archaeological site.

In addition, a fact that catches the curiosity of visitors is the island that is in the center of the lagoon, inhabited by a single person. It is reached by the municipal boat called “Don Octavio” which performs several daily crossings.

 How to get there 

From Buenos Aires to Puan it is 579 km by West Access to Lujan and routes 5 to Trenque Lauquen, 33 to Pigüé and 67 to Puan. The other option is the bus from  Retiro .


The  Laguna de Cochicó , along with four others, integrates the  Enchenadas del Oeste , a system of wetlands of global relevance for its environmental qualities and its important biodiversity. In 1990, Dutch scholars defined them as “the pearls of the pampas”.

Fans of fishing for pejerrey will be able to get specimens from the coast or on board. It is one of the most coveted lagoons for the quantity and quality of its fish.

The area of Cochico has a tourist infrastructure to receive visitors throughout the year, who can experience life in nature through horseback riding, bird watching and hiking.

The unexplained magnetism of sunsets in the lagoons with all its colors, their sounds and wild charms, will be waiting for  tourists  when they can travel again.

 How to get there 

La Laguna Cochicó is 25 kilometers from Guaminí and 470 kilometers from Buenos Aires City by RN 205, 65 and 33. When you arrive at kilometer 208 of the RN33 you should continue for 3 kilometers of paved road to reach the water mirror.
