An southern cyclist who is making history
For more than 10 years, Facundo has been venturing into cycling. He started as a hobbie in his teens, and today he’s part of his professional life. He has a special love for cycling, and he demonstrates this with the countless awards he receives.
A year of great achievements
This 2019 started competing in Punta Arenas, El Calafate and Comodoro Rivadavia during the months March and April. He won 6th place among two thousand participants, in the Championship Argentine Marathon of High Cumbres in Córdoba. The challenge included a mountain adventure of 120 kilometers, which managed to overcome in 4 hours and 11 minutes.
It also set a precedent at the “Vuelta de las Whales” in Madryn, where it left a historical mark with its time. In this mountain bike competition, he managed to travel the 65 kilometer circuit in 2 hours, 24 minutes and 8 seconds. It was the best average obtained in the entire history of this competition.
This year, in addition, he became the first Argentine to win the Ultimate Hope Challenge in Torres del Paine (Chile). With a duration of two days, participants traveled 90 km in the first stage and 60 km in the second stage. Uniting the main tourist sites of the Province of Ultima Esperanza (Chile), the Calafateño cyclist stood out in the category men open.
A golden brooch
Supervised by the Mountain Cycling Federation of Argentina, the Pan American Mountain Bike Championship Race XCM featured more than 800 participants from the world.
First Person Experience
It was lucky to have been part of this beautiful cycling race. He left me learning and experiences. It was pedaled in a single stage of 75 kilometers and we had a total climb of 2600 meters high where the aim was felt. The circuit had 25 kilometers of trails and 50 km of road ascent of street with lots of stone where there were cacti, thorns. It was a risky race for the bike, so finishing it was already a great achievement. I culminated in the top places of the Elite Category, so I became happy south with the result.Facundo Pérez Costa
