3 podiums for the Argentine team in Hungary
The Argentine Amateur Boxing Team began in 2019 with a training campus in São Paulo, Brazil, next to the selected verdeamarelho. From there they left for Europe to compete for the first competitions of the year. They completed their participation in the 63rd International Tournament “Bocskai István Memorial” 2019 in Debrecen, Hungary, where three albicelestes pugiles climbed to the podium.
Dayana Sanchez was runner-up in the 60 kg category after falling in the points final against Russia’s Anastasiia Beliakova. In the semi-finals, he had defeated Thai Dusanthia Anusara by unanimous judgment, while in the debut he had defeated local representative Kata Pribojszki 4-1.
For his part, Francisco Veron won the bronze medal at the 75 kg with two wins (3-2 against Dutchman Max Vanderpas and 5-0 against Moldovan Victor Carapcevschii) and a defeat by unanimous judgment in semi-finals against Kulakhmet Tursynbay of Kazakhstan.
Brian Arregui, gold medal at the Youth Olympics Buenos Aires 2018, also climbed to the third step of the podium at the category 69 kg. Entrerriano debuted with a triumph by unanimous failure in front of the local László Kozák. Then, in the semifinals, he fell by failure divided (3-2) against Israeli Miroslav Kapuler.
The other members of the team said goodbye in the debut: Lucía Pérez (69 kg) lost 4-1 to Hungarian Eszter Oláh; Ramón Quiroga (52 kg) fell 3-2 to Russian Rasul Saliev; Mirco Cuello (56 kg) fell 4-1 to Frenchman Jordan Rodríguez; Carlos Alanis (60 kg) lost 4-1 to Slovakia’s Tanko Viliam; and Maximiliano Oddi (64 kg) fell unanimously to Thailand’s Sinsiri Bunjong.
Led by coaches Fabricio Nieva and Daniel Rafael González, the Argentine Team is already in Sofia, Bulgaria, to play on Wednesday the 70th Strandja International Tournament 2019.
