Today we are going to tell you the story of Miguel Ángel Luquez . This story shows how life can present us with opportunities that we hadn't imagined, but that — if we know how to take advantage of them — allow us to find our true goal. What is Miguel doing? A lot with little: it manufactures recycled instruments and generates a social movement from that.
Miguel has lived in Unquillo ( Córdoba ) for 12 years. There he arrived from Resistencia ( Chaco ) to study philosophy at the UNC. Then his path changed. He became a percussionist and lutier , and today he is carrying out “ Toco con poco” , a musical project and the construction of instruments using recycled materials.
It all started in 1998, when he worked at the Hogar del Padre Lucchese in Villa Allende. There he began to manufacture drums using disused materials: paint tachos, basins tarpaulins, X-rays, kid's leathers; all a little. At the time, I did it because that was all the material I had on. Over time, he added the sustainable idea that today also surrounds the project.
With the trash that would otherwise be discarded, he builds percussion instruments (such as cosophones, bandolins, drums, maraquitas) and accessories, such as maracas, among others.
For 21 years, Miguel worked in special schools, but felt the need to expand his work. That is why for five he has been engaged in “I play with little” independently. In this context, three years ago he took his experience to the Esperanza Complex in Cordoba , where minors in conflict with the law are accommodated.
Over the years the proposal was expanded and the workshops were also expanded. Today she is part of a group of musicians working with the whole family. They teach how to create melodies with instruments made by their own hands, at no cost and of good quality. That's doing a lot with very little.
