From the phone to the wheel

Get to know the story of Paola, SAME's first female driver.

Stories of people

In a time when the molds are breaking, Paola Garbalena changed the phone for the steering wheel, and became the first female ambulance driver in the City of Buenos Aires.
Paola worked for 7 years as a radio operator in the Emergency Medical Care System (SAME), and today she has the possibility of being on the other side of the phone. In addition to driving the ambulance, its function goes much further: you need to help the doctor, bring him board and necks closer to him if necessary, take out and store the stretcher and enter the patient to the hospital guard.
With 40 years of age and a daughter of 2, Paola was able to fulfill a longing that represents job growth and, at the same time, a step forward for society. No more, no less.
