For 11 years, Oscar Cogno has been organizing solidarity accordionists for the benefit of the San José de Banda Norte Asylum (Río Cuarto, Córdoba), in which musicians from different localities participate. Thus, through melodies, they give a moment of joy and company to the elderly at home and demonstrate the power of music as a social and even therapeutic tool.
“It's a classic. People come from Marcos Juarez, Córdoba, Laguna Larga, Alicia, from all over the province of Córdoba. Musicians from farthest places are given the hotel to rest that night and dinner,” Cogno said.
“This initiative was created by Armando Nazario. He summoned me and other musicians to hold the event. When it began to develop, the theatre halls were filled. And so he started with his coordination until he couldn't do it anymore for health reasons, and then he delegated to me and asked me to continue it,” Oscar said. And he concluded: “For 2 years we have been with my daughter every Saturday to play the Asylum and the place is beautiful because it has a huge courtyard, a bocce court, a huge gallery, there grandparents are fine.”
