José Sand, Corrientes's biggest scorer

José Sand is a born and multi-champion scorer, to whom the Argentine National Team has been elusive, perhaps because of playing in the country.

José Sand (1)

José Sand could quietly be considered the best player in the history of  Corr  i  entes . He was born in the club Deportivo Ferro, in the city of Corrientes. As he always had skills in the attack, he caught the attention of big clubs. His youth goals took him from Corrientes to Capital Federal, to Monumental de  River himself.

In the bottom of River, José Sand managed to impose a record: he became the historical scorer of the inferior, until 2011, when he was surpassed by Andrada. But his first debut would not arrive in the Millionaire. He was loaned to  Colón , moved to Santa Fe and, with only five games played, he made his first goal into first.

He had his chance at River, but he was lucky, he only scored eight goals, and did not reach him to become an idol, but he did win his first professional championship. He went to Banfield, where his average did not improve noticeably and, in that area, he crossed to the sidewalk of the front. He went to Lanús, where his career took a quality leap and, after several seasons in the Granate, he became the historic scorer of that club.

His passage through River left a somewhat conflicting relationship, the Correntino Jose Sand is not loved by the people of the Millionaire. This may be for yelling goals at the club that formed it, or perhaps because of his constant desire to play in Boca.

 Titles and awards

José Sand won his first title with River and added four first tournaments with Lanús. Outside the country, he won the UAE Super Cup with Al Ain. Seven times he was awarded as a scorer of different competitions, demonstrating the power of fire in the area. Perhaps the most important recognition of the Correntino was the scorer of the Copa Libertadores 2017.

 The Selection

For some reason, playing in Argentina is not enough to be in the national team, even being a scorer. And José Sand lived this in his own flesh: being a hierarchy player barely played about 55 minutes in the Argentine National Team. About 10 minutes on the Alfio Basile team and 45 minutes with Diego Maradona in an international friendly.
