Cachi is a small town immersed in the Calchaquíes Valleys of northern Argentina. It is within the territory of Salteño and is a city that combines tranquility with tourism. It is a highly recommended place for those looking to disconnect from the speed in which we live daily. It is a direct connection to earth, culture and nature.
It is located about 2500 meters above sea level, the climate is different from that of many other places. But what differs a lot in Cachi in relation to any city at sea level is oxygen.
This makes Cachi a concentration and training point for elite athletes from all over Argentina and abroad. We could talk about sports tourism . Cachi has athletics tracks and playing fields. But it also has the natural circuits that provide the Calchaquíes Valleys.
Unlike other tourist poles, here distractions for athletes are summarized to almost nothing.
The difference of training at 2500 above sea level is that, while the height increases, our oxygen molecules are separated. The body, to counteract this, generates more red blood cells. That's why it's likely that, if we try to run in height, we'll do it more slowly at first.
Not anyone can do it, it is essential to have a suitable doctor. Not all sportsmen or all people respond equal to height. Some work better at a lower height and others need more meters to be able to improve.
Cachi is chosen for the height, the disconnection of everyday noises and for the variety of official and natural training camps. Many athletes , before an official competition, plan their stay in Cachi. They train and concentrate until the dates of the competition, and then they go down to sea level. This training gives them a greater advantage when it comes to performance.
