Psychologists who populate our lands are many and very necessary. Happy day!
As we are
Argentines like to break records, and here is a very particular one: we have the largest number of psychologists per capita in the world. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) Atlas of Mental Health in 2014, there are nearly 200 mental health professionals per 100,000 inhabitants. Among them, the disciples of Freud reign historically - the psychoanalysts. It is no accident that Argentina — a land of immigrants — has a predilection for this technique, since nostalgia and melancholy are in our DNA. The anchoring of the past is something that weighs a lot here, and psychoanalysis takes care of precisely that: to inquire into the history of the person, in the unconscious, and find there the reasons for their sorrows and distresses. Whether psychoanalysts or not, the truth is that psychologists who populate our lands are many and very necessary. In 1974, the Confederation of Psychologists of the Argentine Republic (COPRA) convened the First National Meeting of Psychologists and Psychology Students. So, they decided to set up Psychologist's Day on October 13. Let's take this excellent opportunity to greet our professional friends who do so much good to our tormented souls. Happy day!
