Cadillal, a Tucuman ritual

The El Cadillal dam is a heavenly place, and the most chosen place to vacation with family and friends.

As we are
el cadillal

In summer season, in  Tucumán , there are days lurking moisture and heat becomes unbearable, even more so in the capital with so much pavement and buildings that enclose any breeze that looks out in the city. It seems that the only escape is the majestic hills that provide a little respite, but if we have to be honest the valleys do not provide that spa everyone wants, that dip that relieves the suffocating heat. That is why Tucumans, as a ritual every Sunday, prefer to choose the pleasant  El Cadillal dam as a destination.

Just 20 or 25 minutes from San Miguel de Tucumán, you will reach this place. A dreamed landscape with meek waters and a variety of activities to do. When the Tucumans embark on a trip they can not miss the conservative, ice, drinks, meat for roast, and mosquito repellent, all that they load in their private vehicles and embark on a journey either with their family or friends.

Historically, the Tucumans have generated a kind of attachment to the dam, and even more so when  Camaken  was inaugurated a year ago. This is a boat that arrived to replace the Archimedes catamaran. This new service amazed the Tucumanos and many enjoy the ride it provides since it was inaugurated. When he was baptized, he was watered with champagne, as an offering to the Pachamama and the owner of the boat, Sergio Wilde, told the local press that the name means “energy of all things.”

But, beyond this attraction added to the tourist village, the Tucumano enjoys a lot of good roast with his loved ones on the shore of the waters of the dam. While this place has many activities to do, such as kayaking, who attend every Sunday, at approximately 10 am, when the relaxing day begins in El Cadillal, the first thing they do is prepare meat, fire, serve a good wine on the table and contemplate this  paradise tucumano .

If anyone asks what is their favorite place in summer, no doubt the tucumano will answer that El Cadillal. In fact, the Ente Autárquico Tucumán Turismo (EATT) launched a program called “El Cadillal imperdible”, where it provides free buses to the tourist village. The new bet, which began last year, had a very good response, considering that not everyone has their own vehicle to get there, and that is why they relaunched this modality that provides a collective that leaves from Virgen de la Merced street, first block, from Monday to Thursday. A noteworthy fact is that the Tucumanos register previously at , or in the office located on September 24 and July 9, which serves every day from the 8. They then present their ID card and are assigned a travel shift according to the available date. After completing this simple procedure, the free bus starts the short trip from 10 and returns at 17. It should be noted that, as the pandemic has not yet ended, the established biosafety measures with limited capacity are complied with.

Traditional activities of the Tucumans in the dike

  • Kayak
  • rides Boat
  • rides
  • Climb the aerosilla
  • Trekking and hiking
  • Eating at the various gastronomic stalls
  • Visiting artisans and entrepreneurs in the exhibition lake space

In this way, every Sunday, the Tucumans choose once again, to vacation in El Cadillal, making this dam the most chosen place, repeating every year its traditional activities, a  ritual  implanted exclusively by the tucumans.
