Summer arrives and hundreds of couples and families populate our beaches in search of their longed-for vacations. Holidays that don’t always turn out the way they were intended.

Scenes of discomfort between the members of a couple are replicated all over the coast…. A quiet man with a lost look…. a woman swimming in a waterfall of words seems not to register whether or not there is an interlocutor.

The result: “She won’t stop talking….” (thinks El); “He does not speak…” (says Ella). In both cases, the expectation of a relaxed encounter outside of the annual routine reveals more than ever the disagreement of the word and the difficulty of communicating.

From the psychological point of view, we know that any alteration of the daily rhythm produces all kinds of emotional triggers. It will be that the whirlwind of work, the school agenda, the routines, etc., hide the darkest aspects of each one and that each one prefers to attribute to the other.

And it is at that precise moment that the substitutions of the disagreement appear, creating all kinds of “summer activities”: every night asadito, quads for the children, surfboards for waves without waves, eternal waits for dinner in noisy restaurants, games that for decades children and teenagers call for tickets that will never have an award, craft fairs without handicrafts and full of objects made in China, mass meetings with friends and friends of friends.

Consequently, the choice is stress as a way of vacationing, as a way of enduring the unbearable of meeting the other.
