Lucrecia Martel’s “Zama”, Best Film at the Cinema Tropical Awards
Two years after its premiere, Lucrecia Martel’s Argentinian production “Zama” continues to reap international awards, in this case the Cinema Tropical, whose winners were announced at the conference centre of The New York Times.
Last Thursday, the NGO Cinema Tropical chose “Zama” by Argentina’s Lucrecia Martel, a co-production with Brazil and Spain, while Chile’s “La casa del lobo” by Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña was the best feature debut.
In the direction category, the winners were Juliana Rojas and Marcos Dutra for the Brazilian film “The Good Ways”; in the Latin film in the United States, Rudy Valdez’s “La Sentence”, and a special mention was given to “306 Hollywood” by Elan Bogarín and Jonathan Bogarín.
Some of the nominated and finally awarded films will be screened at the Tropical Cinema Festival, which will take place between February 2 and 4 at the Museum of Image and Movement in New York, with the presence of several of their authors.
