Try this healthy lentil stew

Eating healthy does not mean that we have to deprive ourselves of a lentil stew in the middle of winter. We leave the recipe for you to prepare a healthy version.


When it starts to get cold, Argentines have a fixed idea: stew. Stew of whatever, but above all   lentil stew   . A warm and well caloric meal is an immense happiness on a day of   winter   . Just feeling its scent makes us pop with emotion.

However, today we have a little more awareness about the importance of a   healthy eating   , the idea of a stew with bacon, red chorizo, pork leather and other issues can be contradictory. Or, at least, reserved only for special occasions. If you think that, don't despair! Exist   variants of traditional lentil stew   that leave aside the most controversial ingredients without losing the taste of a good stew and the comforting feeling that remains after eating it. There are, even,   vegetarian versions   .

So if you're a fundamentalist of lentil stew, this is not your recipe. We leave the traditional one around here. But, if you want to eat healthy and do not give up preparing high stew, read on. You're not going to regret it.

  For 3 controlled portions or 2 abundant.  


  • 1 onionla
  • 1 bell
  • 2 puerros
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 garlic tooth
  • 200 g of zapallo
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 cup pre-cooked lentils (leave to soak overnight and, then, throw the soaking water and boil until half cooked, about 20 minutes).
  • 300 g of lean meat (if you want to make it vegetarian, skip this ingredient)
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • Seasonings: salt, pepper, oregano, thyme, paprika

Preparation of

  1. Cut the meat into cubes. In a pot with a little olive oil, brown it barely and sapimentarla. Book.
  2. Chop the garlic and cut the onion, bell and leeks into cubes. Brown them in a pot that is better if it is the one we use for meat.
  3. Once the onion is golden, add the meat, pumpkin and carrot cut into cubes, and tomato puree. Spice up.
  4. Add water until the preparation is covered and let cook over medium heat for approximately 35 minutes.
  5. We add pre-cooked lentils and cook for 10 more minutes.

  Do you want more carbohydrates?   Without exceeding the quantities, you can also add potato and sweet potato, ground chili pepper, cubed bacon (if smoked bacon, richer). And there are those who use green onions and add some laurel leaf.

Serve it well warm and to enjoy. There is no greater care than a warm meal that takes out the cold and makes you forget about the problems.
