5 types of onion: what is each good for

Onion is a very present food in our kitchen.

1. Yellow is the common one. As it is spicy, it is ideal for sautéing. And since it has a lot of sugar, it is ideal for caramelizing
2. La dulce. It is very similar to yellow, smaller normally. As its layers are thicker, it is ideal for making rings and soup
3. La blanca. It has plenty of water and it's crunchy. It is widely used in Mexican dishes
4. La morada. It is the softest and is used a lot in guacamole. It goes very well in the salads
5. El echalote. It's elongated. It's sweet and spicy, making it great for vinaigrettes
