Surprise yourself with the family history of the Gimenez Riili winery

“From boys we get used to being very expressive, with discussions, fights, reconciliations, games, sports and learning. But all that energy was always placated around the family table and at the frank and wise gaze of our parents.” Thus begins the description of the Buenos Hermanos line by Federico Gimenez Riili, one of the children of the marriage of Eduardo Gimenez and Susana Riili. Gimenez Riili is a winery that has the particularity of naming all its wine lines with family references, and that is because the work really takes place with the members of the family nucleus. From the Buenos Hermanos line I chose the blend 2013, composed of 50% Malbec grapes from the Uco Valley and 50% Merlot de Maipú, both in the Province of Mendoza. It is a vivid colour wine in ruby tones and violet brushstrokes, with a friendly entrance and little astringency in the mouth. The black fruits, the aroma of roses and the notes of vanilla stand out for 8 months in oak barrels. It is very balanced, silky and elegant. It paired very well with red meats, semi-hard cheeses and chocolate. The latter must be daring to try it, because perhaps we do not have it as usual and provides very good experiences. It is a wine with a storage potential of 4 or 5 years, with which today it has a great expression of its attributes. “These wines express the freshness of childhood and youth, that always nutritious relationship between brothers who love each other. They are wines like us, raised from respect and from a place in the world,” concludes Federico.
