Remember how recently I said tea stains my teeth ? Well, to the teapot too!
The tannic component of tea, like wine, makes the tableware we use for drinking, present stains with intensive use. Especially in the teapot , which is where we prepare the infusion and where the liquid is usually longer.
In the east this is expected, even desired... You think of the teapot as the mother of tea, that blankets, prepares and shelters, until our enjoyment... But westerners tend to sin obsessive with cleanliness and can make irreparable mistakes.
Never use abrasive elements , you could hurt your teapot material irreparably.
Never use very strong or scented detergents , you could contaminate the taste of your next infusion.
Never store the teapot damp , let it dry upside down in a clean, dry cloth. I could develop fungi.
I have, for this, vegetable sponges that help me keep my dishes clean and bright.
And finally, yes... teapots usually get stained. That is why I always recommend having several in use at once, each for a particular type of tea. So you don't pollute the flavors and give them time to dry well, before using it again.
I hope my advice will serve, so that your tableware will last longer.
Until the next infusion
