Great Delirio: a wine without turns

“Great delirium, ours, of making wines that fall in love, to circumvent time and space.”

Scotti Wines

“ The consumer wants to enjoy, they don't want to analyze the wine or take an exam when he is in front of the glass.”

 Eduardo Olivera Scotti

With these words the winemaker and winemaker of Bodega Familia Scotti defines the orientation that their wines have.

Bodega Familia Scotti is a family wine venture with Mendoza roots that, since 2009, has been led by the enologist Eduardo Olivera Scotti along with his wife Luciana Pereyra, who carries out the marketing and CCmunication of the project.

There are no less pretensions to tackle a project in which it is so frankly sought to reach the consumer who wants to enjoy a good glass of wine.

The winery produces limited headings of wines as an author, paying attention to the maximum expression that the vineyard can offer. “They are wines that have oak. I believe that oak enhances the virtues of wine and grapes but should not be excessive. Vedette is the grape. ”

To obtain grapes of great expression that should not suffer an invasion of wood in the aging, the harvest is done manually in small batches, with a manual selection of clusters on the farm and the subsequent selection of grains in the reception sector of the winery.

Gran Delirio Malbec 2015 is a 100% typicity of the varietal. It is made with vineyards between 15 and 20 years old at the foot of the Andes Cordillera at an average height of 980 meters above sea level, in the district of Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza Argentina.

The aging is carried out in French Oak Barrels for 6 months seeking to develop the right balance and ripening that allows the expression of the color and fruit of the vine.

Gran Delirio Malbec is a wine with great style. In sight he expresses all his youth that materializes in its intense shades of violet color. The passage through the nose is an encounter with the quality of its grapes and the contribution of oak. It is expressive and of great aromatic complexity. Cooked and candied fruit is conjugated with wild flowers of wide presence. Vanilla notes crown a full glass of brevas.

It is fresh, balanced in acidity and very good structure provided by the great concentration of tannins that delivered roughness to the wood so that it would return softness and a delicate and harmonious finish, flowing and of great memory.

Paradoxically delirium is translated from Latin as “leaving the furrow when tilling the earth”. And this project had some of that. To run off the way to open one's own. A delirium that was born in the idea of madmen who dare to dream and who are not afraid to transgress established and standardized rules to achieve a wine, which according to distinguished critics achieves 90 points, but that knows more to us.
