It is increasingly common to see the word finca in wine bottles. By definition, “farm” is an establishment that takes place in rural areas and is dedicated to the production of some kind of agricultural or livestock element. But that word, in our unconscious, goes back to a colonial past, of great luxury properties belonging to high sectors of society. And that's where Finca Martha has its origin. It is located in the agricultural area of Villa Atuel, in San Rafael, southeast of Mendoza.
The Bodega La Soñada dates from 1909 (the date of its construction), but it had an impasse that was from 1969 to 2001 for the sale, repurchase of the property and commissioning, at which time it took its current name.
Finca Martha produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay and an Extra Brut. Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 is a young, bright wine with strong intensity of violet reds and suggests aromas of black pepper, red raspberries and ripe morron. It has high acidity, but a great lightness that makes it very easy to drink. It is balanced, with great structure and presence of round tannins achieved by its maturity.
Having a glass of this fresh wine is to evoke times of life on farms in colonial times or the work of the immigrants who tilled our land. It is an interesting proposal to enjoy during holidays.
