Coca Cola Cake (Stephanie Jaworski) Joy of Baking

It is a cake with an ingredient that we usually drink, but not use it in preparations.

Siiiiiii! From  Coca Cola !!! How did they happen the week? Well, this is a cake with an ingredient we usually drink but not use it in preparations and the recipe is from Stephanie Jaworski. I love this woman. I like all her recipes and it's so clear explaining in her videos, I can't help but follow it.

As I said before, Stephanie makes it difficult easy, so I pass the recipe for this cake, which is EX QUI SI TAAAA!!! Very wet, a different taste, covered with a  chocolate  frosting and Coca Cola too, absolutely delicious. Maybe you have a couple of steps to follow and not to be missed, but I assure you it's worth it.

There's an ingredient called  Buttermilk . As we do not have it, I tell you how it can be done at home: 240cc of whole  milk  , 1 tbsp lemon juice or white vinegar. Let it stand 5 to 10 minutes; it will have the appearance of cut.


For the dough:
  • 230g flour 0000
  • 350 g sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon
  • salt- 2 eggs at room temperature
  • 130 cc buttermilk
  • 1 ½ teaspoon  vanilla essence  
  • 113g butter ointment
  • 50 g cocoa powder
  • 120 cc oil
  • 250 cc Coca Cola.
For frosting:
  • 345g impalpable sugar
  • 113g butter ointment
  • 25g cocoa
  • 80cc Coca Cola or Milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence


  1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC. and butter a mould of 23 x 33 cm approx.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Make a hole in the center.
  3. In another bowl, beat  eggs , buttermilk and essence.
  4. In a medium pot, over medium heat, melt the butter. Then add cocoa, oil and Coca Cola; let it boil and just do, remove from heat. Cool for about 5 minutes and add it to the dry ingredients, mixing very well. Then put the egg mixture and mix.
  5. Put the mixture into the pan and cook for about 30 minutes until you insert a stick of brochette, it comes out clean.
  6. Allow to cool on grate, without unmolding.
  1. In a medium pot, melt the butter, add cocoa and Coca Cola until it bubbles; stir constantly. Take out of the fire, add it to the impalpable sugar in the form of thread (that is... I'm turning it from a little bit and continuously). Then the essence.
  2. Now slowly put the warm frosting on the warm cake. Allow to cool.
  3. Cover can be stored at room temperature or in a  refrigerator  for 5 days.

Another good option to finish the cake

If you want to try more options for decorating and finishing the cake, instead of the  frosting  that the original recipe says, you can try making a butter cream. The advantages of this preparation is that they do not need to cook or melt ingredients. It also allows coloring with vegetable pigments for pastry and flavoring with essences, cocoa or coffee. They will need few ingredients: 225 grams of impalpable sugar (can not be the other); 225 grams of butter at room temperature and 50 cc of milk. It also looks perfect for a teaspoon of vanilla essence.

What you need to do is put all the ingredients in a bowl and beat with manual wire whisk or electric blender. It is important that they do not mix with something else, because the creamy and airy spot is achieved only by beating. I hope you like it and try.
