A flan to be happy

A rich, easy and very Argentinean dessert. Homemade flan is prepared with few ingredients and is enjoyed by everyone. Ready to cook?


With few ingredients, a few minutes of dedication and lots of love, you can make at home one of the most Argentine desserts:  homemade   flan  . Undisputed star of family desktops, no one resists this delight that brings us to heaven spoon by spoon. The hardest thing about this recipe? Decide if we are going to accompany it with  cream,  dulce de leche   or both!

We leave you the recipe to encourage you to make  homemade flan  at home, and stop buying postrecitos in the super.


  • 5 eggs
  • 500 cc of milk
  • 200 g of sugar


  • In a bowl, place eggs with 100 g of sugar. Mix until breaking the ligue of the eggs.
  • Add milk. Stir a little with a fork, but not much (we do not want it to be foamy, just mix). Book.
  • For caramel, place in a frying pan, over medium heat, the other 100 g of sugar. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon until the sugar begins to melt and take a brown color (but do not go to dark brown, because it means that it is burning).  It is essential that caramel is handled very carefully, because it can lead to severe burns. 
  • Add to caramel a tablespoon of boiling water and stir a little more.
  • On the flanera, place the caramel, taking care that it covers the entire surface.
  • Then place the custard mixture.
  • The flan is cooked in a bain-marie, therefore, we will need a bowl on which to place our flanera (for example, a box). Put water in that bowl and place the flanera on top.
  • Bring to a minimum oven (160°) for approximately 40 minutes. To find out if it's ready, you need to put a knife in and it has to go dry.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool before unmolding.
  • Once it is cold, there it is:  unmold, serve, accompany with dulce de leche or cream, enjoy and be happy.
