A custard to be happy

A delicious, easy and very Argentinean dessert. Homemade custard is prepared with few ingredients and is enjoyed by everyone. Ready to cook?


With few ingredients, a few minutes of dedication and a lot of love, you can make at home one of the most Argentine desserts: homemade custard . Undisputed star of family desktops, no one can resist this delight that takes us to heaven spoon by spoon. The hardest thing about this recipe? Decide if we are going to accompany it with cream, dulce de leche or with both!

  • 5 eggs
  • 500 cc milk
  • 200 g sugar


  • In a bowl, place eggs with 100 g of sugar. Mix until the egg ligue is broken.
  • Add the milk. Stir a little with a fork, but not much (we do not want it to be frothy, just to mix). Book now.
  • For caramel, place in a frying pan, over medium heat, the other 100 g of sugar. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon until the sugar begins to melt and take a brown color (but do not go to dark brown, because it means it is burning). It is essential that the caramel is handled very carefully, because it can lead to serious burns.
  • Add to the caramel a tablespoon of boiling water and stir a little more.
  • On the flanera, place the caramel, taking care that it covers the entire surface.
  • Then lay out the custard mixture.
  • The custard is cooked in a bain-marie, so we will need a container on which to place our flanera (for example, a tart). Put water in that container and place the flanera on top.
  • Oven minimum (160°) for approximately 40 minutes. To know if he's ready, you have to put a knife in and it has to come out dry.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool before removing.
  • Once it is cold, there is: unmold, serve, accompany with sweet milk or cream, enjoy and be happy.
