In times of the Internet, social networks and aboutinformation, word of mouth advertising remains the most reliable. When someone tells you that you have to know a place, in general, then you don't regret having gone. That's what happens with El Viejo Hobbit , a place full of magic located on any street in Villa Gesell (Buenos Aires).
Old Hobbit is not on the main avenue, nor does he have big signs pointing it out. It is in the middle of a neighborhood of houses where it could go totally unnoticed. But no: it is always full and can only be accessed by reservation . It's just that the place has something between simple and perfect that is quite difficult to describe.
Good craft beer (which is not what happens in most cases), picadas and fondeu are its specialties. And they're really good at that. But, in addition, the atmosphere is fairy tale . The house imitates those of Tolkien's hobbits and the rest of the atmosphere accompanies: music, waiters' clothing, kindness. From The Old Hobbit you leave with a full tummy and happy heart literally.
In 1996, Geraldine and Juan Pablo decided to shape their dream. They started selling artisanal cheeses at the cut and, the following year, after some reforms, they began to serve cheeses and cold cuts, fondue and tea with cakes. In June 2002, the next step would come: they first lit the boilers for cooking the first game of beer “The Old Hobbit”. The good fame they knew how to earn did the rest.
We grow hobbit hospitality and offer, in our little stronghold, things that the modern world seems to have lost: the simplicity of enjoying a glass of wine and a piece of cheese, or a fondue of cheese or chocolate, in a sleeper setting of quebracho and old stones. Celtic music keeps twenty-first century diners away and gives them the feeling of being in the Middle Ages. The Old Hobbit is for those who want to discover the magic of a corner where time stopped.
Avenue 8 N° 1165 (between Paseos 111 and 112), Villa Gesell, Buenos Aires.
