In Cordoba there is a national celebration: the National Sorghum and Thick Harvest festival. We tell you what this is about.
One more celebration adds to the national agenda. This is the National Sorghum Festival. An event that takes place year by year and revolutionizes the province. This celebration is the focus of the town of Freyre. Throughout the year, the town prepares to welcome artists and visitors who come to spend this unique day. Freyre is part of the department of San Justo, province of Córdoba. It is located just 30 km from the city of San Francisco and about 240 km from the capital of the province .
This festival is a tribute to the resource that brings life to the whole region: the production of sorghum. The economy of this whole area is governed by this crop. So the City Council, together with other entities, organize this meeting. In addition to acting as a recognition of the industry, it is a way to recognize the work of industry workers. Also, it is a gift to the whole population, who are looking forward to this date.
The Sorghum National Festival was born in 1964 , and in 1966 acquired a national character. Over 50 years of experience has this tradition that pays tribute and honor to the agricultural sector dedicated to sorghum. In each edition the proposal is being renewed and more bet is being made. The Festival grew year by year, adding cultural activities, shows and didactic proposals. Obviously, the centre of the festival is the meeting of agricultural producers and technicians. Because, in addition to celebrating, it points to a growth and constant updating of the industry.
Between choice of queens, culinary proposals, parades and lots of music, the Sorghum National Festival revolutionizes the region . Musicians from different genres and artists from all over the country are part of the grid of each edition. It's a hit!
