The Mataderos Fair is a sample of the popular and traditional culture of our country. A must-see for locals and foreigners.
The Mataderos Fair is located in the homonymous neighborhood. It is a striking sign of the Argentine and popular tradition . It offers typical national meals, handicrafts, typical dances, musical and folklore shows and ring races. It is a good option to get inside the culture of our country, both for foreigners and Argentines, every Sunday in the old market area.
The place consists of three important and differentiated areas: Traditional Crafts, Artistic Festival and Gauchesca Skills. All offer different activities such as workshops, talks, exhibitions, videos, demonstrations, etc. The fair has around 300 stalls where food and handicrafts are offered and handicrafts in general. It is visited by thousands of people and tourists, who join the activities and group folkloric dances.
Within the Gauchesca Skills there are activities and shows such as dressage of foals, lasso, running of horses, ring runs and guitarreadas, as well as traditional songs and dances. Ponchos and silverware and leather items can also be purchased, and typical foods such as locro and Patties.
The Mataderos Fair is a sample of the popular and traditional culture of our country. It is ideal for people from abroad who want to know a little more about our national history. It is located in the heart of the old market, and runs from March to December. The business hours are from 11:00 until 20:00. In the months of January and February it operates only on Saturdays at night.
