Grills, rich and tasty

In every corner of each neighborhood, you always have a grill at hand. With potatoes or with salad. Mendoza is a reference in the subject.

A true Sunday classic that has spread to any day of the week, lunch or dinner. The grill is a  great solution to the problem of escaping the classic  roast  . It's just that our food par excellence sometimes, only on a few occasions, tires. Or, actually, maybe it's very expensive and we're looking for some substitute product. The truth is that, either way,  grilled chicken peeps out as the main variant.  

Obviously there is the option to cook it ourselves. It is a beautiful ritual and even at some point will merit an article about it. But, in this case, we are dealing with the  purchased grill.  The true and traditional one has to meet some requirements  that we detail below.

Variants

There are two options.  There are those who ride a kind of chulengo on the sidewalk , as well as those who put the trash in the basket. No more. Health controls and regulatory standards are completely ignored. But it has its charm. An average 50-year-old man commands a grill of 50, 70 or up to 100 chickens. Fire burns in a corner and the embers explode under the grill. This one is sold without potatoes. Just the chicken, and let's walk.

The other, a little more serious and “professional”, is  the grill who gave the saltito and rented a place to give some formality to the matter . Then you already have the churrasquera in the background and an entrance inn. Someone who takes orders from you and others who help you in fries and, in some cases, in  empanadas . The subject is different here. It gives the feeling that the risk of ingesting something in a bad condition is totally minimal. Although actually, and usually, this is more of a myth than empirical things.

Currently,  the price of a roast chicken in  Mendoza  ranges between 350 and 500 pesos, depending on whether it goes with potatoes or not . Here we recommend always order it with french fries. Even when our taste buds detect that the oil in which they have been fried dates from a week, minimum.

Finally,  the classic mendocino grill is offered with two condiments from which we can not escape.  I mean, we can never bring a chicken without any of those two options. Either he goes out  with lemon  or he goes out  with  chimichurri   . Although, obviously, the most gluttons ask, “Give it to me with everything.”
