Mendiolaza: Let the boys come

We tell you all about the carnival of Mendiolaza, a festival that aims at free, happy and, above all, dancers.

 Let the boys come

 from everywhere,

 let the moon

and the mars

This is how Mecha Sosa sang to us, with her  moonvoice and her mermaid song . And, like the Mecha, Mendiolaza's children's carnival aims to make all the kids come. It is a tradition with  many years  of  experience , which combines the notions of carnival and childhood directly and merges them with thousands of different proposals. Every summer, some dates are chosen to celebrate this event. January or February are chosen to spend 4 nights of  pure dance and mischief .

 The Mendiolaza carnival is held in the sports hall . And many artists are invited. Admission is totally free and targets all public. Between games, sweepstakes, crafts and dances, unique nights are spent.

The striking thing about these carnivals is that they are the only ones that have as protagonists  the little ones .Boys and girls use all their energies in the making of their costumes. And even sometimes they can't manage the anxiety of waiting for the big opening night of the carnival. However, family work, cooperation and the union of each comparsa make the wait sweet.

 A carnival from another planet

In these children's carnivals of Mendiolaza, different groups from different places of Córdoba participate. And, every year, there is a theme to address. This year the theme chosen by different groups was the care of the environment. Because  global warming  is an issue on the public agenda and it generates a lot of interest in the little ones.

These carnivals offer everything to enjoy. Between floats and costumes, dances and bars,  the days are spent. Many families choose to dress up for this occasion. Some even disguise their pets! That's why in Mendiolaza,  for the carnival season ,  everything can happen : you can even find a bee dog. Imagine it!
