Joy in a return

The little haves are one of our great traditions that still endure in the neighborhoods.

La alegría en una vuelta

There are things that have a magic hard to explain. That we go back to childhood, to happy moments, to the joy of the simple. Who doesn't die of wanting to get on the  street when he  passes through a square? Or use the son, the nephew or the godson as an excuse to give a little, big guy and everything.
The first little street arrived in Buenos Aires in the middle of the 19th century, from Germany, and was located in present-day Plaza Lavalle . However, it was a Frenchman who was in charge of the first calesita manufactured in the country: Cirilo Bourrel, who began in a workshop on Moreno Street the creation to be completed by Spaniard Francisco Meri y De la Huerta in 1891. Installed in Vicente López square, the calesita had all the typical components: planes, swans and steeds. But there is one detail that is well Argentinean: the ring.  In the 1930s, the calesiteros introduced this practice inspired by the ring races of our gauchos.
La calesita is one of our great traditions and, luckily, there are still several that are still rotated in the neighborhoods.
