If we think fast about the Argentinian treat par excellence, the answer does not fail: the alfajor . The weakness of all Argentines is much more than just a sweet. It is part of our cultural identity and our daily lives, with a consumption of one kilo per capita per year.
This treat is in our country 150 years ago. Tradition goes back to the province of Córdoba , where a French chemist, Augusto Chammás , had the magical idea. Two cookies or round baked dough joined by some filling and bathed in chocolate. Simple, effective and addictive. He baptized him “ alfajor ” and launched him to conquer a whole country.
There are different types and with different fillings . Everyone has his favorite, but we all agree on something: without the alfajor, our life would be a little empty.
