The Carnival of Gualeguaychú is a cultural event that has exceeded all limits. It is the most summoning open-air show and largest in the country. If we compare it with other carnivals, it is only overcome by the giant of Rio de Janeiro and Venice.

In its first editions, at the end of the 19th century, the Corsican developed in the afternoon, as the place did not have lighting. The power line would arrive in the region at the beginning of the 20th century. The first Corsicans traveled 25 de Mayo Street, from Rocamora to Mitre. The route of each comparsa towards the way back and forth. The evolution was adding wooden walkways, where the comparsas paraded while bands played music around them. Floats and flashy comparsas were involved. Carnival became a tourist, economic and artistic hub for the Entrerrians .

In 1997, the Corsódromo de Gualeguaychúwas inaugurated. This was a consequence of the cultural growth of the event and the tourist impact it represented for the city. The carnival, in addition to its festive climate, took on a competitive character. Currently, participants from different clubs and social centers in the city participate. A champion comparsa is chosen and the last two descend.

For the comparsas the carnival of Gualeguaychú is a galaparty. Vestiments are a luxury that exposes great work and originality. Between floats, feathers, dressing rooms and preparation, each comparsa invests about 450 thousand dollars.

Those who are outside the comparsa are not simple spectators. Music and rhythm contagious and these become part of the Carnival. Every year there are 10 days in which the corsódromo summons 30 thousand people every night.

Calendar and tickets

In 2020, the first meeting was on Saturday, January 11, and will end on Monday, February 24. Those who wish to participate in this unique carnival of Argentines and historic can purchase tickets for each weekend and consult different locations. The Carnival of Gualeguaychú awaits you.
