Home Argentine Solidarity fingerprint Warm

We tell you about Abrigados, a solidarity action to bring warmth to vulnerable neighborhoods.

Solidarity fingerprint

For those of us who take for granted a roof over our heads and a warm bed to sleep every night, the  cold  is just a circumstance. For those who do not have a house or have adequate clothing to face the winter,  the cold is torture . In turn, it puts their health and, perhaps, their lives at risk. If we add to this the context of  the COVID-19 pandemic   , which causes more and more people to fall into poverty, the picture is very complicated.

With this reality very present, different  associations from the third sector  came together to carry out the  #Abrigados campaign  , which aims to bring blankets and warm clothes to as many people as possible. A  solidarity action  that seeks to bring warmth to vulnerable neighborhoods. Some of the organizations participating in the initiative are  Construyendo, Asociación Conciencia, Scouts from Argentina, Nilus and Judaica Norte.

 Gathering coat

In the first two weeks of its implementation,  7182 new blankets  were donated and  2198 blankets collected  from the 35 points that the Scouts of Argentina and Judaica Norte have in the City of Buenos Aires, Gran Buenos Aires, La Plata and Mar del Plata.  1880 new outerwear  was also purchased with donations from  Kits #Abrigados  , which can be made on the campaign's  website  , in addition to the  4537 outerwear  donated at the collection points.n.

Anyone who wants to participate in the campaign can  bring their donations  closer to the collection points. They receive blankets and warm clothing — such as jackets, divers and sweaters, both from children and adults. It is important that they are in good condition and clean.

Once the donations are received,  the  volunteers  are responsible for disinfecting them,  complying with the COVID-19 protocol to prevent the infection and take care of us. After disinfection, they are transported to the neighborhoods with which they work and delivered to the families in coordination with different community referents.
