Musicians from the Salta Symphony Orchestra helped, with some of their salaries, independent musicians who have been out of work for months.
The initiative arose from classical melodies: the musicians and performers of the new Salta Symphony Orchestra, since April, launched an initiative to collaborate with their independent colleagues who, as a result of the total stoppage of activities, were severely affected. For them, who earn day by day doing their art, they organized a fund.
The musicians of the orchestra, who are employees of the Government, have a fixed salary per month, sympathized with those who do not have the same fate. “The idea came up in mid-April, when we saw that things were going long. Our activity is completely paralyzed and we, in some way, feel privileged because, being employees of the state, we have our salary in order to month,” said the musician Martín Bonilla.
All of them the money raised will be allocated to the following cultural spaces: The Multicultural, formed by the Argentine Association of Actors; the Community of Artists of Salta; Associated Independent Musicians; the Federal Movement of Salta Dances; the Salta Independent Cultural Spaces Network; Workers of Music and Dance of the Balcarce Corridor; the Movimiento de Músicas Salteñas; the Collective of Music and Dissidences; and the Monteverdi Association. All these spaces are made up of artists (not only musicians) of the province.
This shows the solidarity of those musicians who, although they are going through difficult times, do not hesitate to lend a hand to their colleagues. Guitars and microphones will have to wait to shine on the stage, but — when all this happens — the artists will be there conquering their spaces of culture in the wonderful Salta, “la Linda”.
