20 December 2001
In the history of every country there are certain dates that say everything just by naming them. In Argentina 's recent history, one such date is 20 December 2001 . Because, when your president leaves — literally — flying out of the government house, it means things are not going well at all.
From the Plaza de Mayo came the cry of “Let everyone go”, and Fernando De la Rúa did not hesitate: overtaken by the situation, he resigned his post, got on a helicopter and left. With the country on fire, the president who never had what to wear hung up his gloves and let someone else take care of the situation.
December 20 will be remembered forever as the day when the democracy we had so hard to achieve staggered as never before in history. The day when people went out to the streets to say “enough” and some took the opportunity to destabilize, steal, assault and even kill. That is why it is worth remembering this date to keep in mind that it is the head that handles the body, but it is the body that holds the head.
