Luis Federico Leloir (September 6, 1906 — December 2, 1987) was an Argentine physician, biochemist and pharmacist who received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1970 for his research on sugar nucleotides and the role they play in the manufacture of sugar nucleotides carbohydrates. After its discovery, the details of the congenital galactosemia disease were fully understood.
