A flashmob is literally a “lightning crowd”: it is an organized action in which a group of people gather without an agenda, in a public place, to generate a movement, an alteration of the everyday . In Buenos Aires, how could it be otherwise, we have our tango version of the flashmob.
This initiative, which brings together experts and fans , organizes monthly meetings through the Facebook group Tango Flashmob Buenos Aires , led by its founder, Fabio Rozenek; tango teacher Rafael Mendaro; and the creator from the travel agency Tango Troupe, Francisco Pallejá.
The group's intention is to spread this musical genre from dancing, setting up an improvised stage in any corner of the City. “ We meet once a month in different places in Buenos Aires, perform a tango dance and then we will quickly disperse,” they detail in their profile. The first event was in March of this year, in the inner courtyard of Shopping Alto Palermo, and the next was in front of Teatro Colón.
To be vigilant — then— because, at any moment, we can be surprised by a tango lightning.
