Open call for tango companies, directors and choreographers

The Cycle de Tangos en Escena “Plácidos Domingos” aims to generate new spaces for the production and stage in tango dance.

Placidos domigos

The Civil Association of Tango Danza Workers (TTD) and the Seismic Space opened the call for the Tango Dance Cycle “Placidos Domingos”. This will be held on Sundays in September next. Its aim is to generate new spaces for production and stage performance in tango dance.

The call is aimed at experienced, novice companies, directors and choreographers and those who want to present their debut feature.

This cycle will consist of two short works for each date, lasting between 20 to 45 minutes each.

The pieces may include fusion of languages, always keeping in mind tango danza as a leading language. The theme of the works will be free to choose.

The call will be open until June 30 inclusive. The selection process will take place from 1 to 14 July. The results will be published on July 15. Selected works must be registered in Argentores.

The aim of the cycle is to promote socio-cultural development through tango and its various manifestations. Thus create the possibility of translating new perspectives on stage. Also make visible new aesthetic and content proposals, promoting diversity and the work of choreographers and directors.

In addition, the intention is to revalue the professional practice in tango dance and its development in different fields. And encourage the creation of new sources of work from the stimulation of independent artistic projects.

The cycle will be held on Sundays 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 September 2019 from 19.30 to 22.
