Teilu: the “inclusive Netflix” in Cordoba

 Teilú  is a project of  students and graduates  of the Faculty of Film and Television of the National University of Córdoba (UNC) . It aims to bring the enjoyment of audiovisual productions closer  to people with visual or hearing disabilities . For this purpose, its platform offers films that have  audio-description, subtitling and sign language system .

“Teilú arises from a need that was to reach blind and deaf people,” said  Maximiliano Pinela , one of the creators of the web platform. “We were doing this task of  adapting audiovisual content  in a rather rustic way, in cultural centres and institutions. But we started to receive a barrage of orders from other provinces that wanted to access our content. And so came the idea, with a need to cover.”

Books by Cordoban authors are adapted for people with visual disabilities. Another member of Teilu , Aylen Luponio  said that they have been  working on the project for more than three years. And that the most difficult thing was  to professionalize the process of adapting the content . Arranging the issue of rights, talking to sign language specialists and so on. “ Digital platforms , videos, series and films flood our screens every day.iacute; ace. Blind and deaf people are not alien to this audiovisual phenomenon,” concluded Luponio.

The platform offers the option  to view the catalogue of films  adapted in sign language or with audio description, with a  system of choice of content similar to other digital platforms  .

For now, and for a copyright issue, Teilu's catalogue is somewhat limited. Of course, they can all be viewed for  free  , including the following:
