President of the Argentine Nation.


Mandate: 12 October 1910 to 9 August 1914 (died).

  • Law on Enrolment of citizens over 18 years of age, native and naturalized.
  • Enactment of the General Elections Act, which provides for secret, universal and compulsory ballot (known as the “ Sáenz Peña Law ”).
  • Third National Population Census.
  • Law on the Promotion of National Territories, which leads to the foundation of a large number of cities within the provinces through the construction of railway lines.
  • Creation of the Faculty of Sciences, under the University of Buenos Aires.
  • Law that declares archaeological and paleontological sites as Property of the Nation.
  • Inauguration of the  Retiro Station , of the current Mitre Line.
  • Start of works for the opening of the North and South Diagonal Avenues.
  • Inauguration of the underground service -current Line A-, (the first in Latin America).
