As if it were the first time

Manuel Belgrano chose Rosario to hoist the Argentine flag for the first time.

They say God is everywhere, but he attends in Buenos Aires. Most of the time, that maxim turns out to be true. But, as for everything, there are exceptions. Manuel Belgrano chose another great city of our country — which at the time was just a village — to raise for the first time theArgentine flag , back in 1812: Rosario (Santa Fe) .

For more than 60 years, the Flag Monument has been erectedon this site, icon of the city's landscape since then: an imposing 70-metre tower with a viewpoint on the top, nestled above the ravines of the Paraná River. The design of the Monument belongs to sculptors José Fioravanti and Alfredo Bigatti and architects Ángel Guido and Alejandro Bustillo.

Currently, the Monument inaugurated in 1957 is in a process of restorationthat — it is estimated — will last until 2019. In addition to recovering the original beauty of the work, the project also contemplates transforming the southern sector of the National Park to the Flagfor public use, recreation and recreation.

It is not enough, then, to enjoy this renewed symbol on our visit to the beautiful city of Rosarioand to have the honor of appreciating our flagflaming there, as if it were the first time.
