The megawork that never ceases to surprise the people of Mendoza

Public space and its value. TheWalk Di Benedettois the public and cultural space located between the naves Cultural, University, La Scales and Creativa, in the Central Park. It contributes to forming a cultural hub, in addition to honoring and recognizing the writer and journalist from Mendoza, from whom he takes his name.

The Municipality of the City of Mendoza was recognized by the Edificar Network, with the Edificar Award 2018, in the free category (for works greater than 500 meters built) by the megawork of Paseo Antonio Di Benedetto. This award rewards the work of local architecture built and seeks to encourage and give prestige to the work of the architects of Mendoza.

The work of the Paseo was aimed at revaluing it from the point of view of its functionality and aesthetics. The space has an area of approximately 7690 m2(32 m wide by 250 m long). The draft raised a resolution architecture that integrates the Warehouses, forming a common access space to both buildings. In turn resolved the union with the Central Park with the link to the existing bridge by means of a staircase and ramp.

The intervention raised a disjointed grid of different floor treatments, lighting, landscaping and urban equipment. The realization of this project also allowed technical resolution of storm drains in the sector, as well as to solve landscape and functional issues in the megawork.

Spaces with different textures, materials and their transitions with lighting in height generate forests of lights that guide the user and bring allusions to the famous book of the writer “The Silencer”. This covers topics such as transition, the noise lurking in the city, the search for silence, the pause and the auditory experiences of the park.
